Wildlife

RTP offers amazing opportunities for wildlife.  Hundreds of acres have been set aside as natural area preserve to ensure “green” or “open” spaces throughout the park.  With a few easy steps these already green spaces can be altered to provide habitat to hundreds of native species.  Our hope is that as we perform habitat enhancements, we will not only be providing educational and recreational opportunities to the employees of RTP, but also, increasing species biodiversity, abundance, and the number of naturally functioning ecosystems, connecting habitat patches to avoid species isolation, and decreasing edge effect near developed areas.  Through the guidance of the North Carolina Wildlife Federation’s Wildlife And Industry Together (W.A.I.T.) program, Environment@RTP will work to achieve these goals for Research Triangle Foundation’s (RTF) undeveloped lands.

We encourage other companies, both within and outside of RTP to join us in providing habitat forNorth Carolina ’s wildlife.
